Is this thing

In what feels like an eternity for me, I’m only just sitting down now.

What happened to my photo a week! I was making roughly good process. Of course I got to a difficult week (collaborate with an artist) and left it be.. This hobby of mine is rather mine alone (ED: despite a public blog, yeah right..) and I felt uncomfortable approaching my mates in my time off and be like “Hey! lets work on this thing for this thing I’m playing with Wooo!”

That is the point of this exercise after all. To push me out there!

So with this posts date stamp as proof, I’m giving myself a week now to complete the overdue work and get back on track.

P.s I haven’t not been taking photos, but nothing I really wish to add and I already feel like this is going to quickly get into a P.s about gear. Mmm ok just quickly. Having replaced a bunch of primes with a few zooms, I can’t help but feel I’ve become lazier with my composition. I’m not restricted to a focal length now, so I’m not really thinking about composition. It’s a Flick of the wrist to get things in and out of the frame without concern of the image I’m trying to shoot!

At least I’m aware of this now. I have to think much more carefully before lifting the lens to eye.

See you in a week.

Absolutely nothing to complain about

Yet still.

As if we in developed economies should be miserable.

Because it is still fun to imagine fantastical events at the end of every path.

Edges and Flies

Satisfying reflection has me starring down the path of a fly. And at 200mm I enjoyed pretending I was in a kayak surveying the cliff face.

Minimal Landscape

So when I get bored with looking at light box’s around my face, I must remind myself to continue to advance the enjoyment I find in idealising the mundane.

This image was created with the idea of a minimalist landscape in mind, and I enjoy it’s cheeky sense of worth where nature is confined to an otherwise insignificant lamp.

Green Head

A mate elsewhere was the muse this time in pulling the gels out? Either way It started of with me trying to show off using half as much gear to get a similar result. Turns out it’s easier to just to use more gear πŸ˜›

Anyway, Still in love with how ones head is vastly different by the way light is controlled. I love doing this, more practising Dan!

A wonderful wind swept through the trees overhead. The entire house shook as the wind passed over and around it, peering into rooms and rustling the piles it found.

Listen to Bartok.

Where I’ve been

My blog for blogs sake.

It’s been difficult to get out and run around with the camera with any real purpose of late. I haven’t been valuing the escape as much recently. I can’t help but think part of this all happened when I sold my old K10 for the New K5.

Not that there is anything wrong with this camera, not at all. But I feel I enjoyed the struggle and the extra work you needed when shooting with the K10. There aren’t any excuses now. I have as much ISO as I’ll ever need, it is as fast as one could ask for.

So the handicap is gone and it’s not fun any more? What a sadist I must be.

Semi recently I managed a weekend away with some mates to capture them rolling down hills on fancy mountain bikes. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a while and look forward to doing again.

I’m still trying to nail my shots of my favourite birds around the place;

Still in love with all things green and clichΓ© forms of composition after recently forcing myself to shoot at 24mm’s

And yes, still enjoying abstract forms and subject of barely any interest πŸ˜€

Much more exploration to do. And! I’m still yet to purposefully launch into pursuit of those self portraits I started. They are an excuse to learn technique and I got bored of looking at myself and it kind of, well I left it be for the moment. Must get back into it! It is fun after all πŸ™‚
